T3mPLATE has world class technologies available to us allowing us to multiple printing methods including MEW, fused deposition modelling, and various bioprinting devices.

MEW is a high-precision additive manufacturing technique capable of printing micrometre level resolution fibres. This technology is highly suited to biomedical applications due to its unparalleled accuracy and resolution for fibre deposition as well as being solvent-free process. Our lab boasts multiple MEW printers each of which are constantly improved via various projects which continue to push the envelope of what the technology is capable of. A breakdown of the basics of how MEW technology works can be found here.

Bioprinting, as opposed to MEW, involves the printing of various cell-compatible biomaterials, such as hydrogels. These biomaterials can be tailored and printed in certain ways in order to create favourable environments for cells to grow and differentiate. Our lab aims to exploit said abilities to develop representative environments that can guide cells into fulfilling their regenerative potential.
